Sesame seed bars

Pots 1 | Serves 12 adults | 40 grams | 694 KJ (per serve) | dehydrator not required
For your adventure it is recommended to wrap the bars in a piece of greaseproof paper to prevent it sticking to anything else, then into a snap-lock bag (or even better Cryovac them so they do not break up in your rucksack). Grams and kj are written per one bar.

1) Pre heat a fan forced oven to 160°C.
2) Using baking paper line a 28 x 18 cm baking tray.
3) In a pot, heat the golden syrup, brown sugar and butter until the sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.
4) Take the pot off the heat and add the sesame seeds, oatmeal, coconut and figs, stir to combine.
5) Pour over the lined tray and using a spoon smooth out the mix, place the pan in the oven and cook for 15 mins.
6) Leave it to cool in the tin for about 10 mins and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
7) Cut in half lengthways, then into about 4 cm long.
