Retakunna cabin is the third and last accommodation on track. You’ll be greeted by the Host Ranger who’ll tell you more about the walk and cabins.
Like other cabins, Surveyors has two separate sleeping cabins that are linked by a timber deck. Each cabin sleeps 48 in total, divided into 6 rooms for 4 walkers and 3 rooms for 8 walkers. Each of the larger rooms has a partial wall that can divide it into two smaller rooms for four walkers. Sleeping is arranged on bunk beds with mattresses (203cm x 90cm). Since the rooms have no heating or lights, don’t forget your sleeping bag and head torch!
Each cabin has a kitchen with gas cooktops, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, and kettles in the shared kitchen (no microwave ovens or fridge). You’ll need your own knives, forks, spoons, cup, plate, bowl. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Toilets are a short walk away from the cabin.
You can charge your mobile devices on USB Charging stations (5 volts).
